Nearly ten years after I redesigned their original logo, the MHL approached me to design their 70th anniversary logo. The 2016-2017 season would be mark 70 years of providing youth hockey in Mississauga. That’s quite the achievement. The MHL is primarily run by volunteers – theres only a handful of paid positions at the top of the management group (and referees, of course). It’s incredible to think that thousands of kids play in a well-organized league completely run by hundreds of coaches and dozens of conveners that volunteer their time – a lot of time, every season.
I took some of the original elements and put them on to a different badge (one shaped like a maple leaf), and expanded the banner to include the dates. The MHL, and the hockey player remained intact.
Let’s hope they come back for the 75th Anniversary logo too!
